How to Turn Complete Strangers Into Paying Customers with an e-Book.

The E-Book Marketplace Phenomena is truly the Average Persons businesswinning ticket to a Famous Persons Pot of Gold!  E-books have now created the opportunity for those with very little former Celebrity Status to capitalize on the wealth of the world.

Let me start off by telling you a true story;

My mind races back to 1970 when I was just a kid and would love to watch the Walton’s on T.V.  Perhaps my favorite character was John-Boy because I could identify with him wanting to be a writer.  Since the age of 12 years old I knew that I wanted to be a writer.  When I read an ad in a comic book; How to Become a Writer, I rustled some money from my folks and sent for the home course.

I can still remember the day I got the package in the mail, my heart raced with excitement and my mind zoomed with adventure.  It was a brown soft bound book and when I started to read it, I remember thinking; I don’t have a clue what this book is saying.  But it did not matter to me; just having that book gave me hope and inspiration!

It allowed me to feed my dream of someday becoming a published author, to have the ability to paint on the canvas of paper the words, thoughts, dreams and visions that would flood my mind on a daily basis.

That little brown unattractive home study course on how to become a writer fueled my passion to share my thoughts and words with the world.  It did not matter that I did not understand one word that course said, it was my point of contact to dream, and dream big!

Finding Your PassionLike me, many of you have a gift, and burning desire to write and share you message with the world.  And for the past 100 years many have went to their grave with their books still inside them because the publishing industry did not provide a general platform for them.  How many great books and stories get buried and never make it into the marketplace because of a lack of a publishing platform?

The new E-Book market demand has many opportunities; however it has very precise rules in order to win in this game.  You need certain insights, networks, and tools.  It is like going to a lake jammed filled with fish, but if you go to the lake without a fishing pole, bait and proper equipment, you will go home empty-handed and an empty stomach.  The lake can be completely filled with fish, but they are not going to jump out and into your pocket.  The same is true with winning in the E-Book Phenomena. 
  1. Because the wall of publishing has been broken down, there will be an infinity of new E-books and E-book authors hit the marketplace within the next 12-24 months. Talk about a stampede!  This does create a Serious Problem; Market Overload, and giving the marketplace an infinity of choices.  You think there are a lot of titles on the market now you have not seen anything yet.  Ok, the problem now becomes, how do you not get lost in this over load of available book selection?  What will cause the marketplace to choose and buy your book over the other millions of choices that will soon becoming their way?  I will give you the Secret on point 5. 
  1. Establish yourself right now while the marketplace for E-books is in its infancy, before the market gets flooded.  You have a chance right now to create your name and brand as a marketplace giant.  Your name can be the next McDonald’s among millions of hamburger joints, the next Disneyland among the countless unknown theme parks, the Kleenex among tissues.  Here Me Now; This can only be done if you act Now, before the stampede of E-books start to flood the marketplace.  If you start right now, invest in this industry today, you will rise high and be remembered by the marketplace as a Name Brand in the E-book trend.  When the marketplace gets saturated with E-Books, those entering the market will get lost in the massive crowd of E-books, but you will be remembered and will have the magnetic attraction with the consumers. Why?  You established yourself early, while the marketplace was in its infancy.  You established marketplace attachment and your reward will be a financial fortune indeed! 
  1. The very best way to start your cycle of wealth and branding in the E-Book Marketplace is through association with Best Selling Authors that are already established in the printed publishing world.  The reason; The marketplace has always asked this question, but it has intensified with the new E-Book market and that question is; Who Are You?  What you have to understand; (wow this is gold, I should be charging a king’s ransom for this information, and I really am not sure how much longer I am going to be giving this information away for free)  

What you have to understand is that the E-Book market is brand new and in a hot wild frenzy and they are blind.  Therefore, they are gravitating groupbookstowards people and names they recognize.  Best Selling Authors and Leaders are like a gigantic magnetic force that this new market is following and clinging onto.  If you are in association with them, your boat will be filled with riches too as the marketplace buyers gravitate and cling to them.  I hit upon this concept of aligning oneself with Industry leaders and Bestselling authors back in 2005 when I launched the Power of Mentorship book series, that by the way now has 24 titles and more than 200,000 copies in the marketplace worldwide (sorry for the plug).

This concept of working with established names was the driving force of the success of our book series, and that was done when the marketplace was calm and mild and no intense, insane demand for books like there is now for E-Books.  There was no market demand frenzy then.  The need for association right now is Imperative if you are going to cash in on this E-Book Phenomena, Brand yourself and make your mark before the market is saturated.  Here is the truth;  New Markets that change society and how we function in our personal and business life is so Rare, and unusual only about 1 percent of all people profit from it because the average and masses of people just cannot see it or conceptualize it.  It is way too big for them to even comprehend the enormity of this opportunity.

Find Out Fast and Upfront…

If you base your selling results on hope and expectation you are headed for lots of bitter disappointment and discouragement, not to mention making your job a lot more difficult and earning a lot less money.  After ladymad2watching a brutal interaction between a salesman and a manager yesterday at lunch (I will share that story with you on a future blog) I told Melinda, “If you do not know what you are doing, Selling is a brutal job.  And if you know what you are doing…Selling is still a brutal job!”

If you are going to survive and succeed in the Selling Arena you are going to have to completely change your mindset and philosophy about selling. And the first thing you need to learn is that “It’s better to find out fast and upfront if this prospect is the right one or not” Do not waste your time, energy and resources on those who are not willing or ready to purchase your product. The worst misery you can put yourself through is dealing with a “Tire Kicker”.  These folks should be sent straight to Hell in my opinion.  They will waste your time, have you jump through all kinds of hoops, have you lower your price again and again, add more free services, require more referrals and after all that with your hair in complete disarray from exhaustion, your tongue hanging down to your knee caps and panting like a chased deer, they pull their head out of their Ass and decide not to buy right now!

There is not a salesperson on the planet that desperately needed that big sale, had it all locked in, already spent the commission, done deal only to find at the very last-minute something came up and the sale fell through. That makes you want to open the window and jump off the 23rd story of the building!   You know the experience, the contract wasn’t faxed over when it was supposed to, the final call did not come in as expected, the phone call went straight to voice mail, and you get this horrible gut feeling that something is wrong.  You know at any moment you are about to fly into a full blown panic attack.  All of a sudden, you go from party animal to prayer warrior!

We go through this whole horrible sales experience because our entire selling mindset and marketing method is all wrong. The first being, we operate our selling path from Hope and Expectation instead of Systems and Qualification. Never calculate and for sure not spend your future income from sales based on “Expectation” and hope.  Calculate your income after the check has cleared!

As one young salesman going out for the first time on a sales call looked back and asked his sales manager if there is anything he should remember to do and the sales manager yelled back “Get the Check!” 

If you are dealing with a prospect that has gone through the check points of your marketing system and you qualified that prospect and they are ready and willing to buy that is the time you roll out the Red Carpet, lay down your life and treat them as pure Royalty.  You now start the process of “Knock their Socks Off Service”.

Back in 1999 my nephew listed some high-end sports equipment on e-bay and made $1800.00 in a couple of days.  I asked him how in the heck he did that.  He said, “I didn’t know what I was doing, I just threw them up there and said this is how much they are, you want it or you don’t”.  If you want to become a high income earner in the world of selling these are the 3 tips that will help you get there.

  1. Stop Emotional Selling:   This is what most sales professionals practice.  They get super excited when they make a sale and utterly discouraged when they lose a sale.  This will put you into an early grave or drive you out of the industry and/or business.  I refuse to mix high emotions and selling together.  
  2. Start Systematic Selling:   Systematic Selling is not based on emotions, hope or expectation but intentional proven systems of activity, marketing and exposure. It is void of high impact emotions.  It does not exhaust your hope or expectation tank and keeps you from plummeting into the depths of despair when you lose a sale.  You understand using this system that both wining sales and losing sales is part of the process and cycle and both are headed your way.  I have had people ask me when I have closed a twenty-five thousand dollar deal, “Aren’t you excited”. I say, excited about what?
  3. Presume Each Proposal Is A No:   This is complete opposition of what 97 percent of sales people practice and sales trainers teach.  However, using this method allows you to keep actively working in the field until the final answer is determined.  If the proposal or sales turns out to be a no, you won’t fall into despair and lose your momentum.  If the sale is a yes, it makes it just that much better.  Most professionals practice the opposite, expecting every proposal and sale to be a yes, and when the no’s come everyone is bummed out. 

sunset and happy manTime is to short, selling is hard work, lots of people to serve and too much money to be earned to waste your time, energy, resources and talents just to find out that you are dancing for the wrong partner.  Find out fast and up front if they are the right ones.  You will work less, earn more and retain your sanity!

“The e-book Phenomena” How to turn your e-Book into a Financial Fortune!

The only way to earn more money is by creating more new customers.  This is a very easy equation to understand, the hard part is how to apply it or implement it.  As the creator and publisher of the Power of Mentorship groupbooksbook series, which now has 24 titles, have sold more than 200,000 copies worldwide and can be found on Barnes and Noble.com, and Amazon.com I completely understand the traditional methods and reasons of writing and publishing a book.

However the most important thing I have learned from this publishing business is something I learned 15 years ago that I just happened to stumble upon that allowed me to sell a million dollars worth of products in a single year!  What was that secret?  “You make more money by giving things away instead of trying to sell them”.

15 years ago when I was running my consulting firm I had a habit of giving away books by motivational speakers to my prospective clients and to my clients not as a marketing tool, but because I knew they would enjoy them.  As a result of giving those books away I sold more than a million dollars worth of business that year mostly from referrals of people I gave books to.   Back then it never dawned on me that those books were a great marketing tool, nevertheless, it brought those results.

Even today, I make more money (and our co-authors do too) by giving away books than I do by selling them.  I have made thousands of dollars selling books, but hundreds of thousands of dollars in new business and customers by giving them away!

The fastest path to cash, more income, new business and customers is by “Attracting Them” not “Prospecting for Them”.  Here is a well-kept secret by every millionaire business person; “The way to get people to take something out of their pockets (money) is to First put something (value) into them”.

Now let’s face it, giving away free printed books can be costly up front, however, giving away an e-book cost nothing and can be as effective as giving away a hard copy of a book.  I create thousands of dollars and entire list of new customers by giving away e-books. Giving away e-books creates value, goodwill and appreciation among those you give them too.

“Giving away a quality e-book is the most cost-effective way to create more business and income on the Planet”.

But beware; not all e-books are equal!  Many people give away books that are public domain and although many of them are very good, most people have them or read them before, therefore it diminishes the “value factor” of them.  But when are giving your prospects and clients an e-book that have chapters by some of the most powerful leaders of the 21st Century, plus you positioning your self as an “Expert” by writing a chapter in this book, how much value do you think that you create for them?
