The true role of leadership is anything but glamorous but in fact one that is of service.  Leadership is many times a very lonely road.  While others are home resting you are up working late into the night and early morning to help and be a service to people.  It is a role that is undervalued and underappreciated.  Most of the time you are the first one to a meeting (setting everything up) and the last one to leave (cleaning everything up).

The crowds enjoy all the value you bring and the service you provide and after the party is over they zoom out with their presents without saying thank you.  This however is a very small price and sacrifice in comparison to knowing that as a true Leader you are changing lives and creating destinies for good people.  And just to put the icing on the cake, it pays so well in income that you will live like a King or Queen with Financial Freedom!  Use your business to “build people” don’t use “people to build your business”!

“Proper Education Pertaining to our Pursuit”

We are just days away from bringing in a New Year.  For millions across the globe it’s like a massive marathon race.  Runners are excited they are pumped up, warming up, gearing up and ready to blast out of the gate to their Success Dreams on January 1, 2014.  This is all good and praise worthy however the studies show that less than four percent (4%) will reach their goals and seventy five percent will abandon their dreams after the first ninety days.

Why such a high rate of goal and dream fatality?  Because the majority base their New Year Journey on excitement, motivation, hope, and determination instead of the one main ingredient that we all need and that is “Proper Education Pertaining to our Pursuit”.  This is completely different from formal education.  Let me give you an example; more people will have financial goals this New Year of 2014 than any other type of goal, even higher than weight loss goals.

No matter how healthy or sickly your financial condition is right now, you should have financial increase and financial independence as one of your primary focus points for 2014.  That being said, most will fail in this pursuit due to a lack of “Financial Training and Education”.  You don’t need to learn how to manage money because of a lack of money but because of an abundance of money.

1. You have to be “Fed Up” As my good friend Vic Johnson says, “You have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired”.  Just because people say they are fed up, they rarely are and that is why they choose to only complain about their misery instead of change it.
2. You have to be “Hungry” The best teacher and example of this concept is my friend Les Brown.  He is a living example of being a booming success that was based on his hunger to succeed.  I remember talking with him on the set of my movie “Embrace the Journey” where we talked about his famous line “If you don’t keep fighting for the things you want, the things you don’t want will automatically take over”.
3. You have to Get “Fired Up” Fire never continues without being constantly fed. The fire of your desire will quickly go out if you do not keep feeding it.  When your fire goes out your dreams grow cold and your bank account freezes over in lack.  Nothing will throw gasoline on your fire like the inspiration you get from the association and training you get from the Millionaire leaders in Network Marketing.  Your fire can be stone cold blue, not an amber in sight, and you get on a company conference training call and by the time it ends you will be so fired up that your shoes start to smoke!

I Hope Things Get Better…

Have you ever heard any one say “I hope things get better”?  Of course you have and perhaps this is even something you say on a consistent basis.  Many people are buckling under the pressure of everyday life of business, work and finances.  I had a stranger ask me today if I ever bought Lotto tickets. I told him no, never.  He glazed off in deep thought and said, “It’s the only way out of this financial misery everyone is in”.

When you do not understand or practice the fundamentals of sound business principles then you don’t have much choice but to live your life on the basis of “I Hope Things Get Better”.  The problem with this philosophy is that things rarely get better but has an automatic tendency of getting worse!  Living this way is like speeding down the highway, closing your eyes and let go of the steering wheel and then “Hope Things Get Better”.  You can see why they rarely do.

The good new is however, you can move from “I Hope Things Get Better” to “I Know Things Are Going To Get Better”.  The transition comes when we do certain things that we know will cause things to get better.

I have a lot of people tell me their problems and after I let them ramble on for a while I ask them a simple question; “What are you doing about them”.  That usually gets that same symptom of the bottom lip begin quivering, the top lip start moving but no words come out.  Then out of some kind of desperation they let out a Monster growl like Ahhhhhhhh!

Everyone goes through tough times; it is a process and cycle of life.  The late and legendary Jim Rohn called them the Seasons of Life.  The important thing to comprehend is the importance of developing the skill of doing proactive actions that change those challenging times.  When you are practicing the fundamentals of business you move from “I Hope Things Get Better” to “I Know Things Will Get Better” because you are doing the things that will make them better.

Here are a few things you want to do to keep you in the realm of “Knowing Things Will Get Better”.

1. Daily Activity Prospecting daily is crucial element to help you navigate through the cycles of business.  It is your deed of guarantee that things will get better when you hit a dry spot or selling slump. 

2. Daily Marketing  After all is said and done, after all the fancy wrapper is stripped away, the impressive vernacular is put back, when the make up comes off selling comes down to a numbers game.  The numbers game, its old, its simple, but its accurate and dependable.  The degree of your long-term success in selling and business will be a reflection of how many people hear your offer. 

3. Massive Exposure   The old saying of “It’s not what you know but who you know” has a twin sibling “Its not who you know it’s who knows about you”.  The more people who know about you, your company and product line the more business you are going to do.  This is based on the law of the built-in market.  There are thousands of people worldwide that want to buy what you are selling.  And the only reason you have not gotten rich so far is not enough people know about you.  Once your name, branding, company or product hits massive exposure the momentum of increase in business and profits begin to grow exponentially. 

So when things get tough and challenging (and they will) you can look people in the eye and say “I Know Things Are Going To Get Better”.  And if anyone ask how you know that you can simply tell them…”Because I Am Doing the Things to Make Them Better”.  Knowing and practicing these three business insights will help you get a better night sleep, remove fear and stress from your heart and renew your strength to keep moving on!

Hard Times Are Not Necessary…

As Melinda and I drive around our city, the number of empty business buildings seems to be at record highs.  I am sure that empty buildings are also saturating your town and city.  One of the saddest things is to drive by a business and peer into the windows and see that there are no customers in there. The business seems like a dying ghost town.

As a business owner myself, I know how painful it is to be in a situation where you see your heart, blood, hard work and total investment dying and going down the tubes. Unless you been there, words cannot express the pain and heartache.  Driving to get a big Cheese Burger from Tommy’s the other night, waiting the for the light to turn green I was looking into a little mom and pop Mexican restaurant where there was not a single person in there, my stomach got a knot of compassion for them.

The thing that disturbs me more than seeing these dying businesses and empty buildings is realizing that all this shortage and hard times is Completely Unnecessary!  The reason these buildings are empty and business owners are failing is because they never took the time to develop an economy sustaining Marketing Plan and System to Attract New Customers and Sustain Current Customers.  If they had a Proven Marketing Plan they would prosper like an Oasis in the middle of a hot desert.

Although our economy is harsh, it does not cause professionals to suffer lack.  What a bad economy does however is demand us to take 100 percent Responsibility for the results that are happening in our business and life.

In a good economy, it allows us to coast and ride the wave of global prosperity without taking much responsibility for our business and therefore can thrive with a poor marketing plan or no marketing plan at all.

But all that changes when the economy goes south and now you are in the middle of a battle with no experience, no weapons, no way to defend yourself and the enemy comes in like a flood and turns you every way but loose and does you butt wrong!

If you are a business owner or professional, unless you make a strong change of direction in your marketing plan and put that plan at the very top of your priority list, it will be just a matter of time until you will become the next victim of these vicious economic times we are facing today.

Hear me well, things are not going to get better any time soon, we are a long, long way off before the financial pressure is going to let up, and only those who are Marketing Prepared and Strong are going to survive.  For those of you that are currently employed and do not have some kind of side business in the works, that’s like walking on a tight rope without a net on a very windy day.

The Good News is, you do not have to be a victim of this economy, Hard Times Are Not Necessary.  Wake up and realize the reason for your business lack is the lack of a Marketing Plan.  Your Marketing Plan and Plan of Massive Activity is going to be your Ark that will save you in this storm!

How Effective Is Your Business Card?

Depending to grow your business and income on the power of your business card is like shooting Godzilla with a pea shooter and thinking that big monster is going to kill over.  No one in their right mind would be that stupid to believe that…Right? (Please say yes).  Yet millions of professionals and business owners go out into the marketplace with that mighty card expecting that they are going to change their financial and business conditions around for the better.

How effective are business cards?

As a business owner like any other profession, you need more customers, more sales, and more bottom line profits.  So let me ask you, how many clients, referrals and money can you directly trace back to being results of your business card?

The fact is business cards and brochures as important as they are when everything is said and done are really poor performers in the area of marketing and generating revenue.  The three major reasons are:

1. Business cards have been used for 100 years and have exhausted its uniqueness.

2. Everybody uses them, and no matter how fancy or how much money you spend on them, it does not make you stand out from the rest of the business cards your competitors are passing out.

3. The fact is, far too many business cards end up in the trash can.

However, there is one type of business card that Never ends up in a trash can, which is really not a business card but a book that functions as a business card on steroids!
