First and foremost a hearty salutation to all fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers for all the care and investment you made into your children’s lives.  I look back on the role my father played in my life and I could never express the gratitude I feel for him (he has since passed away) nor say Thank You enough for being the great dad he was to me.  The best way I know how to thank him and make the most of the investment he made in my life is to become the best human being I possibly can and succeed to the heights that he desired for me.

The great thing about Fathers Day is to remember that our Creator has provided many benefits as well.  In fact, we are Rich because our Heavenly Father is Rich.  He owns cattle on a thousand hills and all the Gold of the Earth and He has given set laws to get that wealth to us.  Did you notice I said set laws?

Many people have an internal view and belief of God bringing them prosperity by means of faith and giving a whole lot of money to some Ministries.  The metaphysical group believes they are going to “Think and Grow Rich” using positive affirmations, visualizations and accurate thinking.

Although both these schools of thought have some truth in them and both carry a certain amount of importance, the true way God brings wealth and prosperity is through laws that are governable, traceable and predictable. Here are a few of those set laws.

1. The Law of Hard Work   Whenever you set out on a task be it growing your business and income or finding new customers, the key ingredient is hard work.  When you work hard at something you will be able to see the MastermindGroupresults of your labor.  It also gives you the feeling and knowing that you are doing something, that you are a part of the success you desire.

2. The Law of Exposure   If you are selling something, anything, the rate in which you do that is based upon exposure.  The more people who know what you are selling the higher percentage of a chance you have of selling that item.  You could have the greatest product in the world but if no one knows about it what good does it do.  On the other hand, the moment you understand and make a commitment to the law of exposure you begin to tap into that unlimited wealth that God has provided for you.

3. The Law of Activity   This is one of my favorite of all success laws because we alone control this factor.  When we are out selling we cannot control who will say yes and who will say no to our offer but what we can control is the activity of how many people we present to. And because artofbusinessipodselling is a numbers game, we can control our business growth, income and sales through the law of activity.  There are very few money problems that cannot be solved with the law of activity.  The great fallacy of sales is to believe that after we get a yes, we get so excited we emotionally feel that we will never get another no or rejection.  On the flip side of that, after we encounter a no, we emotionally feel that everyone we talk to from then on is going to be no.  Of course both situations are incorrect.  Once we understand the law of activity we will no longer wonder what our income is going to be at the end of the month, or where our next sale is going to come from.  Our income, growth and sales will become predictable and measurable before we step in front of one prospect.  When you master these 3 laws of Success you never have to worry about money again, because the flow of money into your life will be completely in your control and not in any other factor in life.

Knowing how God really gets success and money to you will save you from a lot of disillusionment, confusion, disappointment and bitter despair.  You cannot really “Think and Grow Rich” but you can work your ass off and get rich.  I would write a book with that title but too many people would get mad at me for it!

So in closing today make this week and day of massive exposure, hard work and activity and you will be surprised how many miracles will come forth.

Why Napoleon Hill Went Broke… “The Greatest Discovery of the 21st Century”

Think and Grow Rich first published in 1923 is the number one best selling book on personal achievement and success.  Even today, the book still remains a best seller, selling millions of copies each year.  In fact, most self made Millionaires got their first glimpse of wealth from this great book.  Walk into any successful persons office and you will find a copy of this legendary book, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. mastermindipad

How is it then that the author of the best selling success book and the greatest teacher of success end up broke so many times with little to no assets to his name?  How can the man whose teaching and books are responsible for creating more Millionaires than any other Success teacher in history end up this way?  Many people are shocked when they find out that this great author lived much of his life without riches yet spent most of his adult life teaching others how to acquire them.  His writings and teachings are outstanding and have stood the test of time throughout these many years as testaments that his teachings were sound and proven.

The individuals who followed his teachings starting with nothing and ended up massive amounts of wealth and success are too numerous to record, yet he himself Napoleon Hill was a person that lasting riches eluded.  His life was one of volatile success and failures, riches and lack, with the scales leaning much more on the failure side than the success side.  Although he did hit the wealth factor a couple of times it was short lived and soon took wings never to return again.

For many, this seems to be incomprehensible and without an answer.  How could this be, was it due to lack of personal morals, lack of integrity, reckless living, poor management, a streak of bad luck, down right stupidity?  Like all of us, I am sure he had his share in dabbing in all the above, yet none of those elements was the causative factor of him being the greatest teacher of success yet going broke.

The sad story is told, at one point later in his life, he lived in a small rented room alone, and towards the end was trying to sell the famous typewriter he wrote “Think and Grow Rich” on for $50.00.

I was personally at the event of the Napoleon Hill Foundation Movie in 2009 where two of his “Think and Grow Rich” books that he signed sold for Embrace the Journey$7,000.00 each!  One of the ladies who purchased one the books I met in 2011 when she was chosen to appear in my movie “Embrace the Journey” movie that I produced.

Today, the Napoleon Hill Foundation is very prosperous and successful doing a lot of good for many people in the world of business and personal achievement.  Go to any book store and you will find his books still lining the shelves, there not out of charity but because they continue to be best sellers in the 21st Century.

Many come to the sad conclusion that if the greatest teacher of success went financially broke what chance do we have to become wealthy and sustain it.  This conclusion comes mainly because people cannot come up with a logical or sane answer to why he, the great teacher and author of success, Napoleon Hill went broke.  I must confess that I too was complex and had no answer for over 10 years and did what many do, just dismiss it out of my mind and mentally deny it by putting it out of remembrance.

 A Strange Phenomena   By following this pattern of mental dismissal of him going financially broke, yet following his teaching of success my life took on the same success and failure pattern of Napoleon Hill.  This was not and is not an isolated case but in fact is a very strange phenomenon that occurs with the majority of success followers, teachers, authors and entrepreneurs.  For most, they do not make any connection to these events and I was prone to be in that same group until I entered into the greatest business slump in my life that lasted 5 grueling years that almost destroyed me in every sense of the word including physically.

It was the unique discovery of why Napoleon Hill the greatest teacher and author of success and who wrote the greatest book on success ever written went broke.  It was this massive discovery in the midst of the worst storm of my life that stilled the waters and not only brought me out of that financial storm, but brought me back to experience more lasting and permanent success, health, happiness and finances than I ever had experienced.

I am not sure why I discovered what I now term “The Greatest Discovery of the 21st Century”-Why Napoleon Hill went broke.  Was it out of pure good fortune?  Was it the fact that I was stripped and devoid of all answers at the time and brought so low that nothing was left in me and I was now able to hear things that you cannot hear during good times?  What is the Grace of God and His Mercy on me?  I am not sure, but have a feeling it was all the above and some that I am not yet aware of.

One thing I can promise you for sure, Until you know the answer, until this great discovery is revealed to you, lasting success, achievement and financial freedom will always elude you.  It will come within inches of your finger tips yet you will not be able to grasp it.  It will land in your lap only to evaporate, take wings and fly away before you can enjoy it.

Prospecting Made Easy

There may not be anything more distasteful in the entire realm of business than prospecting.  For most, it is painful, unfruitful and down right unpleasant.  It is usually done under extreme inner protest, and done extremely poorly.  It is any wonder that it produces disgusting results?  The big culprit in all this misery over prospecting and marketing comes from not understanding the process and having a wrong perspective of it.  Far too many professionals view it as begging people to do something they do not want to do and finding great pleasure in slamming the door shut in our face. 

Okay, maybe they don’t articulate it that way, but I promise you that is the mechanics going on inside their noodle. Rejection is always painful; I do not care how tough you say your skin is, or how much you say it does not bother you.  Getting a No and rejection to your offer is like taking a straight kick to the McNuggets.  It hurts even if you are wearing a Cup or don’t have any McNuggets to be kicked into your stomach!

The good news is there are some pro-active things you can do to soften the blow and pain, and in fact make prospecting a lot easier.

Prospecting is about…

Timing: Timing is everything.  When we show up with our offer to people it is more about timing in their life than our selling skills.  If the timing is right, you can sell hard candy to people with no teeth.  If the timing is not right, you could be exchanging hundred-dollar bills for twenty-dollar bills and people will not take them.  If you think I am exaggerating, I run a lot of sponsorship programs where we offer people $11,000 with no strings attached and hundreds refuse to take it!  I used to think it was due to complete stupidity but I leaned its more about wrong timing for them. 

Finding:  Effective and successful prospecting is about people finding you and not so much of you finding them.  It is about attracting customers, not hunting for customers.  You must become visible in the marketplace so that your ideal customers can find and locate you.  They are spending money on the exact same thing you are selling and they might as well spend it with you.  And they will if they can find you.

Identifying:  When you are prospecting you are really going into the marketplace to identify the people you can help, whose timing is just right and want what you are selling. When you go to the fruit section, do you just close your eyes and pick any fruit on the table?  Hell no, you spend 10 minutes expecting, turning over, poking, touching, picking up, putting back and finally identifying the best ones to put in your basket.  Do you put rotten, bug ridden fruit in your basket? No…then why are you accepting rotten customers for?

Eliminating:  When people say No to your offer they are simply eliminating themselves from your target market list.  You are eliminating them from your radar of ideal customers.  When people say No, they are doing you a big favor, they are saving you time, energy and money.  I had the best experience last Sunday when I went to the Flea Market.  A vendor there had a couple of models I was interested in.  When I asked him the price and he told me, I countered with an offer.  He smiled and said, “No, but thank you for the offer”.  I was so impressed with his come back reply, and one I never heard before that I paid him his asking price (then I grumbled to everyone the whole day that I paid too much for the item!).  When I made my offer to him, he immediately identified me and basically but extremely politely and tactfully said “Your ass is out of here”!

When you understand these four dynamics about prospecting, not only does it become easier, but you will find it more productive as well as profitable.  You will be marketing from an intellectual stand point instead of an emotional standpoint.  I guess you could compare it to wearing a cup made out of iron instead of plastic…

Hide and Seek?

Help…I am desperately looking for you. I cannot see you and cannot seem to find you.Where are you? 

Believe it or not, this is the heart cry of millions of people who are looking for you and want to fill your bank account full of cash; they are called your Ideal Customer. There is no shortage of ideal customers, no shortage of sales and no shortage money.  So what is the problem with your cash flow and business growth?  These ideal customers cannot find you because of a Book Postcardlack of exposure on your part.

Finding “New Customers” is the life blood of every business.  However, for the masses of those seeking success, finding new customers is as painful as getting dental work with out Novocaine.  The good news is…it does not have to be that way.

How do you find new customers?  You don’t…you let customers, the people who have the money and desire to buy what you are selling find you. I assure you, those kind of people are out there by the groves.  Why do you think infomercials have been so successful?  Selling billions of dollars of products that will end up in a few years at the 99 cent store.  The key is not finding and prospecting for new customers but making yourself visible and seen in the market place so that your ideal customer can find you and fill your pockets with cash.  Many people have a hard time conceptualizing the fact that right now, no matter what you are selling, millions of people are out there desperately looking for you wanting to buy your product.

Please, write this next statement in bold letters where you can see it everyday…”There is No Shortage of People who have the Money and Desire to Buy what I Sell”.  At this very moment, your perfect customer is looking all over for you, but can not find you.  Why?  You are like the indivisible man or woman walking around and no one can detect your presence.

In order for your customers to find you, you have to have a fog horn sounding, flashing lights, fireworks going off, beam lights flashing in the sky…in essence, you must be a shining lighthouse.  How do you do that?

Exposure and the power of Leverage

chriswisebookYou must let the masses know you exist and how to find you, because in the mist of the masses are more ideal customers than you could handle.  Everything I do is about exposure and making my presence known in the market place, allowing people to find me.  Listen, you do not sell products or services, what you do is solve problems, help people and make their lives better.  Customers are looking for you, you do not have to sell them, just let them know how to find you.

Most people spend their entire life trying to sell people their products and services.  That is a hard road to travel that is laced with a very high failure rate.  You can succeed with this method…if you are addicted to misery.  Why not do it the easy way and make more money and enjoy life more?

The more exposure you get, the easier it will be for people who want what you have to find you.  That is the key to more profits and business growth.  So I ask you, what are you doing to gain massive exposure?  One of the best things you are doing is being a Co-Author in our books, which leads me to our next secret…

Leverage:  If you do not employ leverage in your business, you are working to hard and robbing yourself of a financial fortune.  You want to make sure you blow your fog horn in a crowd of thousands, millions is even better, and not just a group of 10 people at a time.  On the other hand, you do not want to spend a ton of money on advertising that does not work.  The key is to ask; “How can I get the most bang for my exposure buck?  Yes there is an investment in making your presence known in the market place.

People will say the best exposure is free, that my friend is the death gargle of an under achievers.  When it comes to growing your business, do not build it on free stuff.  Excellent quality is never free!  Why do you think the commercial at half time during the Super Bowl is so expensive?  Prime exposure.

Take a moment and think about shifting your mindset from finding customers to learning how to get customers to find you.  Not only is this type of method a lot easier, is far more productive and profitable.

Here is a little exercise I encourage you to do everyday; Visualize people with a fist full of cash, running in a mad rush, calling out your name to find you so they can exchange that fist full of cash for your product and then ask yourself this question; “What can I do today to help those people find me?”  Then write that answer down and implement it.

How Much Does Success Cost?

I guess you would call me an Inspirational writer, meaning I do not pre-write my blogs, but wait and listen everyday until I get the right message to share with our readership the thing they need at the right time in their life. Today I am sharing on the price or cost of Success. One of the best questions you could ever ask is, “How Much Does Success Cost?  In life, we ask about the cost of everything we buy, (except when it comes to my wife and her shoes, she could careless how much they cost…but I sure do!).  Yet rarely do we take the time to find out how much success and our dreams really cost.

Leader WithinSuccess will cost you “Everything You Have In Order to Give You Everything You Want” On your Journey to your Dreams, obstacles, set backs, challenges, disappointments, failures, fears and problems will come in and rain down on you unmercifully and the only thing that will pull you through is a relentless fighting spirit, the proper tools and a caring Mentor.  But the good news is, with these three elements the chains that hold back your Ultimate Dreams will be broken and you will attain that which you seek!

If there was only one bit of advice out of the thousands of things I could share with people, that one bit of advice I would give is…

Success requires you to face the fact that as adults we have moved from Paternalism to Individualism. Paternalism is what happens between good and loving parents and their children during childhood and adolescences which basically equates to “Father will Provide”.  However, in adulthood life, we move into Individualism which is Personal Responsibility for our results or…”If it’s Going to Be, It’s Up to Me 

I am sorry to be the one to break the harsh news to you but, no one is coming to your rescue, no one is going to fight your battle, and no one is going to create your success.  We all have to face the fact that if “Success is To Be, It’s 100 percent up to Me”.

Trying to live by Paternalism (Father will Provide) into adulthood is one of the main and deadly factors of Failure and disappointments in life, business

Make your Money Go Up as the Economy Goes Down

and relationships. This is also the reason many people get bitter towards God when the Miracle does not come when they expect one.  Thousands of preachers across the globe stand up saying “Give me your offering and God will provide for your every need!” Yes, I believe in giving and do believe God provides for us; however it is not under the principle of Paternalism but Responsibility.  100 years ago, most preachers that proclaim that paternalism message today (that makes them rich) would have eventually got the Ass Whooping of their life from their loving congregation!

Just to set the records straight, less you think I am a heathen, it is very important that we acknowledge a loving heavenly Father that provides for us and for us to develop a deep loving relationship with Him and always maintain a humble spirit of gratitude and appreciation.  God provides for us by giving us the Power to Get Wealth, but it becomes our responsibility to make it happen.  And just for good measure, I am not opposed at all of Preachers getting Rich, they should be rich, only teach people the correct way to get rich (Responsibility, If its going to be, its up to me) and not the false way of Paternalism.

If you go into life and business under the principle of Paternalism “Father will Provide” life will give you the Ass Whooping of your life!  Ok, I guess I stirred up enough bee hives today, I know some folks will be like an angry bee over this blog, yet for others, it will be a message of salvation from a trap of discouragement and disappointment, and for that reason, I will keep writing on!

One of the wealthiest men on earth was asked what it takes to be Successful.  He said it only takes two things;

  1. Decide on what you want
  2. Be willing to pay the price to get it 

How simple is that!  Do you know what you want and are you willing to pay the price to get it?  It is all up to you because…”If its to Be, Its up to Me”.

Changing Lives Through the Power Of The Pen

Dr. Martin Luther King proclaimed “I have a dream”. This is the mantra of every published, self published and unpublished author.  The dream lives with them 24 hours a day because inside their heart is the burning desire to “change lives through the power of the pen”. 

Let me start off by telling you a true story… 

My mind races back to the early 70’s when I was just a child and would love to watch the Walton’s on T.V.  Perhaps my favorite character was John-Boy because I could identify with him wanting to be a writer.  Since the age of 12 years old I knew that I wanted to be a writer.  When I read an ad in a comic book, “How to Become a Writer” I rustled some money from my folks and sent for the home course.

I can still remember the day I got the package in the mail, my heart raced with excitement and my mind zoomed with adventure.  It was a brown soft bound book and when I started to read it, I remembered thinking, “I don’t have a clue what this book is saying.”  But it did not matter to me; just having that book gave me hope and inspiration!

It allowed me to feed my dream of someday becoming a published author, to have the ability to paint on the canvas of paper the words, thoughts, dreams and visions that would flood my mind on a daily basis.

That little brown unattractive home study course on how to become a writer fueled my passion to share my thoughts and words with the world.  It did not matter that I did not understand one word that course said, it was my point of contact to dream, and dream big!

I share that story with you because there are many reasons why people have a dream to write a book; however this is what I have learned,

Millions of people want to write a book.

Most have the ability, some have the drive but few have the know how.” 

Finding Your PassionHaving a dream to become a published author is a wonderful and powerful element.  Did my youthful dream of becoming a published author ever come true?  Many people have wondered about that.  Well, 33 years after I got that home study course in the mail I have had the good pleasure to have published 19 books and create the best selling The Power of Mentorship book series that now have over 200,000 printed copies in the marketplace worldwide.

Yes dreams are important and yes they do come true, but not by themselves.  You see, many people have dreams, but not every one has wings.  Dreams without wings stay grounded.

“Will my passion support me? If your passion has a plan, your plan will support your passion”

How do we put wings to our dreams?  By good old hard work; my good friend and best selling author Brian Tracy says it best; “Success is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent hard work”.

Did we say hard work?  Let’s make it clear that hard work is smart work, knowing what to do and how to do it to create the results you want.

If you have a dream of becoming a published author (or any dream for that matter) or if you are an author and want to sell more books, here are 5 important points to help you take that dream from your heart and turn it into reality.

1.        Find A Mentor.  Finding a mentor that can teach you how to get what you want is not only invaluable but a necessary ingredient to achieve your goal and dream.  It will save you years off the learning curve and save you thousands of dollars of costly mistakes.  When I went to my first mentor to teach me how to do a book series he asked me; “do you want to do this as a hobby or a business?  I responded I do not know?  He looked at me and said get out of my office; if you are not going to treat this like a business you have no business doing it!  That was the key advice that allowed me to create our highly successful book series.

Another book mentor of mine was the late Charlie Tremendous Jones.  I remember when we came out with our second Power of Mentorship book I put on the cover volume two.  I had already approved the cover, and the cover was done.  Charlie told me; get the word volume off that cover.  I said “why Charlie, it looks so good?”  He said if you keep it there it will hinder your sales.  Charlie had been in the book business for over 40 years and his mentorship proved once again to be invaluable.

2.        Get into an anthology. One the best ways to start your publishing career as well as boost an existing one and sell more books (if you currently have one) is to become published in an anthology.  An anthology is book that is composed of contributing authors or what I like to refer as “co-authors”. 

There are a number of anthology books on the market today that will give you the opportunity to be part of the book; however the best ones to be involved with are those who have best selling authors that are part of the contributing authors.

The keys to writing success is positioning yourself as an expert, establishing your credibility, massive exposure, and developing your brand.  Anthologies help you do exactly that especially those that have best selling authors that are part of that group.

3.        Keep your writing dreams alive.  If you have a dream to become a published author, you and you alone will have to be the “keeper of the flame”.  It will be up to you to stay excited, fuel your passion and fan the flame.  Your mentor can give you the plan; you however must supply the drive.  How strong is your desire to write?  How much passion do you have to get published, have a book and get your message in print form?   Only you can answer these questions and the answers will determine if you are willing to put wings to your dream or allow your dream to stay grounded.

4.        Take action now.  When I go speak in a certain city, I always have people come up to me and tell me they are in the process of writing a book, or plan to write a book.  What always amazes me is when I visit that same city the next year or so, 95 percent of those same people who told me about their writing dreams have done nothing to towards making them a reality.  Dreaming is worthless unless you add action with it.  My mentor Bob Proctor taught me how to make decisions based on what I want, not what I think I can do, not what circumstances dictate to me or what my bank account tells me what I can or cannot do. 

Start taking action now, today, and the plan, the people and resources will always show up along the way.

5.        Know your purpose.  You must know what you want and why you want it.  Many people know what they want, but when it comes to analyzing why they want it they become clueless.  Know why you want to become a published author.  It is because you have a burning message in your heart that you fill compelled to get out into the market, a desire to help people through the power of the pen, to sell a lot of books and create a fortune?  These are all worthy and honorable goals.  Whatever your reason, whatever your purpose is to become a published author know them and you will be well on your way to making your dream come true.

The Pressure of Money… It’s not what you think it is.

97 percent of people who hear the phrase “Money Pressure” would equate that to financial shortage, financial challenge, and debt, lack and money worries.  However, the pressure of money has nothing to do with the shortage of money but the abundance of money.

Right now, you are surrounded with “money pressure” and if you understand what that means it could make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams.  Let me explain:

A maple tree is full of sap syrup running inside its tree trunk.  In fact the tree is completely jammed pack full of maple syrup and it’s under a tremendous amount of force and pressure.  All that is needed to release the syrup is to create a “tap” into the tree and by nature of the pressure inside the tree; the maple syrup comes “gushing” out in abundance!

Your “tap” is your business and service.  Learn how to improve, expand and upgrade your marketing, your exposure, and your service which in turn creates many “taps” into the money tree and by way of the pressure of economics, money will begin to flow out to you in abundance.

The only reason there seems to be a sluggish economy is not due to a lack of business or money, but a lack of “taps”.  Money is still here on planet earth, millions of dollars are under pressure to burst out your way, and all it takes is to plug in your “tap” and let the money flow.  I promise you, if you do this, you will stand there and say, “What harsh economy”?

The Next Trillion Dollar Industry

 Over the past few years the self help industry has not been sluggish because of it’s content, or lack of interest from the marketplace or even as some have said from “information overload”.  It has been on the decline because of its current format in meeting the demands of cultural change.  We are now living in a very peculiar time in history, where technology is no longer an interesting subject, but a life driven system known as “marketplace culture”.   For instance, how did we ever do business without computers, cell phones, emails and the internet?  To think that these tools were not available to the average business 25 years ago seems to be, well unthinkable!

However, these technologies are no longer for the elite few, but for the ordinary masses which now has become cultural standard, which simply means this system of technology has become our lifestyle.   Being part of the baby boomer generation, I did not grow up with internet technology, and although I am proficient enough to function in this technology the fact remains that my 4 year old granddaughter knows how to navigate my iPhone games better than me!  The self help industry as we now know it today has a little over a 100 year history.  Not much has changed in the way of its message and teachings for they are founded on unchangeable principles.  However, the format they have been brought to the public has drastically changed over the last 100 years.

1910 through 1950 the self help industry was booming through the format of printed books.  That era gave us the classics that we are still buying today like “As a man thinketh”, “Think and Grow Rich” and the “Science of Getting Rich” just to name a few.  Then the movement started losing momentum in the marketplace and went on a massive decline.

In the 70’s and 80’s it was revived with a renewed fever by using the format of live seminars and meetings.  Professional speakers like Jim Rohn, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, Zig Ziglar and many others would pack out a 10,000 seat auditorium across the nation.  The self help success industry was once again in the mainstream spot light.  But as the cultural demand changed, so did the need for the delivery format.  So once again as the marketplace format shifted, the industry started to decline.

Once the 1990’s came into play, the self help success industry become alive and mainstream once again through the media of audios.  As technology progressed and the demand on our time continued to grow, less and less people were willing to pack out auditoriums and used their travel time to turn their car and commute time into a ‘learning university on wheels” by way of audio programs.  This format was extremely effective throughout the 90’s and even well into the 21st Century.

However, the industry took on a massive renewal revival in 2006 with the mega smash hit film “the Secret” produced by Rhonda Burns. For many known and unknown reasons the film swept the globe and went viral.  Many people had high hopes for the film project, but nobody expected it to become the phenomena that it did.  This gave the industry a huge boost and mass appeal and once again the flames of the personal growth industry was burning only this time brighter than they shone for the past 100 years.  This also put the self help industry in a new format that nobody was really expecting, and that was in a movie format.  A film that was a unique blend of being a documentary coupled with a storyline, showcasing the top experts in the field of personal development.  International experts like Bob Proctor, Marie Diamond, James Ray and many others.  Once the Secret was released, the personal growth industry took off the path to fill the marketplace demand of bringing the message of success through movies.

This however created two major problems;

  1. No body in the personal growth industry had any real experience in this movie format, and frankly had no idea what they were doing.  But not knowing what you are doing has never stopped any real success expert.  So we just jumped in and started filling the need.
  1. The “Secret” was such a phenomenal hit, and did create a magnificent film that it was very hard and expensive to follow.

Although motivational movies are fun to do and we have personally produced four of them ourselves, (you can view the trailers at www.EmbracetheJourney.net) there is a new kid on the block, which is not a fad, but a global phenomena that is here to stay that I call the “E-book Phenomena”.  I have been predicting and preparing for this global trend since 2006 when we were one of the first publishing companies to convert our printed books into an e-book format and market them.  Of course, back then, there were was no real market for them, and there was no such thing as e-book readers on the market yet.  However,  I seen the day approaching.  That day is now here and taking the market by storm.  In fact, the front cover of a recent Bloomberg Business-Week magazine has the caption “Amazon wants to burn the (printed) book business”.

That reality is not good news for traditional book publishers; however it has opened an unlimited “Gold Mine” for speakers, coaches, and entrepreneurs to partake in the greatest marketing and business tool ever created, “The published book” If you are going to survive and excel in this current harsh economy, you will want to take advantage of this global trend. Becoming a published author has now become accessible to every professional on the planet.  So I urge you to stake your “claim” in this “Trillion Dollar Industry” of digital downloads.

My Orange Socks

If you can figure out a way to give people what they want, you will become very rich.  Most people want long-term success, but are only willing to pay for things that bring instant gratification.

I love what my mentor Bob Proctors says; Tell me what you want and I will show you how to get it.

dee wallaceThe reason people struggle with selling their products and services is because they are doing just that; trying to sell people a product.  They do not take the time to listen to people in order to find out what people really want.  People look at your products as a problem not a solution.  In their mind, they are thinking, that is just what I need, more payments and spend money I do not have.

I can tell you from almost 30 years experience, in a challenging economy people are not interested in buying products or services!  That is why selling is so hard for most people.

What do people want?  I have no clue; that is, until I sit down with them and listen with my ears open and my mouth closed.  People are happy to tell you what they want; in fact it is virtually impossible not to let other people not know what we want because what we want pours out of us like a fountain.

A couple of years ago I went into a clothing store with the intent to buy 3 or 4 suites, some shirts, ties and dress pants, not to mention socks, shoes, belts and pocket squares.  I went in there ready to unload some serious money on that shop, and knowing that the salesperson was paid on commission, I figured I was going to make one chap a happy camper for the day.

As I walked in, I fell in love with four suites, wow; they were my style, big bright colors.  All I needed was a big hat and a feather and I would be ready for the side walks of Hollywood!

As I went into full swing trying on the coats the salesman kept trying to tell me those suits were not for me, kindly at first and then the pressure kept mounting.  Finally he said in a stern voice; Sir, I can not possibly sell you those suits; I would be doing you a dishonor!

I said okay, call that other salesperson over here to see if he will sell them to me?

Once he realized I was serious, he took off his glasses and wiped them and said; Sir, those suites look fabulous on you!  He even ended up selling me orange socks.

In your business you are operating as a servant or a judge.  The only way to become rich is by being a servant, that means giving people what they want, not what you think they need.

Business folks with the right intent try to sell people what they need instead of what people want and then wonder why business is so bad.  They are conducting business as a judge not a servant.

Try to sell me a bottle of your potion because it comes from the bottom of the ocean and has more nutrients than anything on the planet and I am not interested.   However, tell me that I can lower my blood sugar and improve my diabetes with your potion and I will buy a case of it, even if the potion comes from the butt of a camel!   Why?  I am not interested in buying products, but I will open my wallet for solutions and things I want.

Tale a look at your business today, and ask yourself if you are trying to sell your products or focusing on what people want?  It will be the difference between breaking the bank or breaking your back!

So in closing, if you drive the streets of Hollywood, and see some cat in a bright color suite, wearing orange socks, honk, it just might be me!
